Cisco UCSID-BC – UCS Implementation and Design Boot Camp
During this course you will reinforce and refresh your knowledge and skills in order to prepare for the DCUCD and DCUCI exams.
The main focus of this course is to acquire practical expereince in a lab environment. In this lab environment you will tackle subjects like Nexus 5000 Core, Fabric Interconnects, B-Series and C-Sereis servers, Microsoft Hyper-V 2008 and 2012, VMware VSphere the Nexus 1000v as well as the Cisco UCS Manager Vm-FEX.
This course is aimed at system engineers, administrators and technicians that are responsible for implementing Cisco UCS B-Series Blade Servers and Cisco UCS C-Series Rack-Mount Servers as well as anyone interested in prepareing for the Cisco Data Center Unified Computing Design Specialist exam.
Upon completion you will know how to:
From a design point of view:
- Extensively review Cisco’s six-step design lifecycle
- Review a detailed process for picking the ideal C-Series and B-Series components
- Review Cisco UCS Data Center products as well as their placement and operation
- Cover the architecture, components, connectivity, and features of Cisco UCS
- Outline key details to gather as you migrate to a Virtualized Data Center and install different solutions on a UCS infrastructure
From an implementation point of view:
- Review the initial setup and configuring of each Cisco UCS components
- Review LAN and SAN modes of operations and connectivity options
- Detail all aspects of a server build through a service profile and various server related templates and policies
- Discuss proper Bare Metal OS or Hypervisor installations
- Fully install and configure a vSphere environment
- Install and configure Cisco’s Nexus 1000v
- Install and configure Cisco’s UCS Manager VM-FEX
- Review how to administer your UCS environment through logging, AAA, and monitoring
Students need to have:
CCNA and DCUFI knowledge and experience until cutover to CCNA DC
CCNA DC equivalent knowledge and experience
Server operating systems, hypervisor and virtualization familiarity
Familiarity with Ethernet and TCP/IP networking, SANs, Fibre Channel Protocol (FCP), and hypervisor technologies (VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix Xen)
