Cisco DMCES – Deploying and Maintaining Carrier Ethernet Services
In this course you will learn how to configure, administer, and deploy Layer 2 Ethernet services for a service provider MPLS enabled network.
Other topics covered in this course include the configuration of customer premise equipment to the network of a service provider, configuration of network access as well as aggregation, distribution, and core portions of a service provider network.
This course is aimed at network administrators, network operators and system administrators.
Upon completion you will know how to:
Ethernet service type architectures as defined by the MEF
Devices used within a carrier Ethernet system and their function
Configure routed and bridged CPE network functions to connect to a point of presence (POP)
Configure access network functions to allow customer data into the network
Configure an access node user network interface (UNI)
Configure an access node network-to-network interface (NNI)
Configure 802.1Q trunking per port and per access node
Configure Layer 2 protocol tunneling (L2PT)
Configure 1:1 and N:1 virtual local area network (VLAN) connectivity
Aggregate customer traffic within the SP network
Configure flexible Ethernet UNI functions
Configure UNI classification based on port, 802.1Q, 802.1Q range, QinQ, and untagged traffic
Configure translation and rewrites
Configure carrier Ethernet forwarding functions
Configure EoMPLS pseudowire and Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS) Virtual Forwarding Instance
Configure hierarchical VPLS (H-VPLS)
Configure EoMPLS pseudowire aggregation
Configure EoMPLS pseudowire switch function
Configure MPLS NNI function between aggregation and core
Configure a core network to transport customer traffic through an SP network
Configure MPLS within a core network
Increase availability of Layer 2 services within an SP network by configuring pseudowire redundancy and MPLS traffic engineering with fast reroute
Ensure integrity and security of customer data and an SP network
Secure access into an SP network
Secure the aggregation and distribution network layers
Implement quality of service (QoS) mechanisms in order to meet service level agreements (SLAs) for different traffic types
Monitor and manage end-to-end Layer 2 Ethernet services using Ethernet-OAM
Students need to have:
- Ability to efficiently use Cisco IOS command line interface to perform configurations
- Ability to design hierarchical Layer 2 and Layer 3 networks
- Ability to configure, optimize, and scale dynamic routing protocols (in particular OSPF, BGP, and MPLS) and Layer 2 protocols
- Familiarity with QoS and SLA principles and methodologies
